China's Delta outbreak is spreading fast and causing alarm with scenes of panic buying in Wuhan, the city where the coronavirus first emerged.
Across the country, sweeping pandemic measures are in place including city-wide lockdowns, mass testing of millions, and massive travel restrictions.
As China throws its entire pandemic playbook at the Delta variant, will it work?
Ben Cowling -- Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong -- tells me: “China can use this playbook again, it's worked successfully for the last year, the things they can do in China, maybe can't be done elsewhere, they can use the mass testing, the lockdowns, the quarantines to get Delta under control, but it may take a little bit longer than previous outbreaks have taken.”
